Of the active sites in the census, the share with no links to or from any other site in the census (islands), and the share that link out but have no links in (unrecognised).

## What it counts

- Island: An active site with no links to or from any other site in the census graph.
- Unrecognised: An active site that links to other sites in the census graph but has no links in from any of them.

## What it does not see

- Only links between .za sites in the census count. A site linked only from outside .za, from social media, or from pages Palo has not crawled is an island or unrecognised here.
- Links added by scripts after a page loads may be missed, so some sites may show fewer links than a browser would. Sites that build their whole page with JavaScript (client_rendered in the census summary, counted from 15 October 2026) show their links only once Palo's browser crawler has visited them.

## The latest 30 days

One row per day, newest first, from that day's last analysis (South African time). Where a cell gives a count and a percentage, such as 64,149 (34.2%), the heading says what the percentage is of.
