# Links per active site

Palo, a census of the South African web by Dirišwago. https://palo.dirishwago.co.za/census/links.md
Data licence: CC BY 4.0; credit "Palo, Dirišwago (palo.dirishwago.co.za)".

The links between .za sites in the census, divided by the number of active sites.

## What it counts

- Links: Directed links between .za domains, found on every crawled page. A site linking to another counts once, however many pages carry the link.
- Links per active site: Links divided by active sites. It rises as more links are found and falls as more sites are found. It differs from the graph's mean in-degree in the census summary (graph_mean_in_degree), which divides the links in the analysed graph by the sites in it, blocked sites included.

## What it does not see

- Links to sites outside .za are not counted here; see links that leave .za.
- Links on pages Palo has not crawled, and links added by scripts after a page loads, may be missed.

## Recorded since

From 13 June 2026.

## The latest 30 days

One row per day, newest first, from that day's last analysis (South African time). Where a cell gives a count and a percentage, such as 64,149 (34.2%), the heading says what the percentage is of. An empty cell was not recorded that day. "Counting rules" says whether the day was counted under the rules in use since 11 October 2026 (current) or the earlier ones; the two are not directly comparable.
